An 1808 Mexico 4 Reales silver coin is a highly collectible historical artifact struck under the authority of King Charles IV of Spain during the Spanish Colonial period. Known as a "half-dollar" size counterpart to the famous 8 Reales "piece of eight", this coin was minted at the legendary Mexico City Mint (indicated by the Mo mint mark). 1808 marks a fascinating historical threshold, as it was the final year of Charles IV's reign before Napoleon forced his abdication, setting off the chain of events that led to the Mexican War of Independence.
