this is the Timex "Black Max," the model made famous by the late-1970s "it takes a real man" TV ad campaign featuring a Maserati - a well-known, collectible reference among vintage Timex collectors. This is a genuine 1978 Timex Black Max. The black dial has a silver tachometer scale, applied TIMEX branding, a date window, and the model's signature orange sweep second hand set against cream lume-style hour and minute hands. The dial is signed "Dial England" with reference numbers 28659 and 02578, which decode to a 1978 production date. The case measures approximately 38mm (37.68mm measured by caliper) and has a stainless steel case back stamped "Base Metal Bezel, Water Resistant, Stainless Steel Back" and "Swiss Made," paired with its black textured strap and buckle. This is a hand-wind mechanical movement. This watch is running as of the time of listing. Runtime and accuracy are not guaranteed, and service is recommended for accurate long-term timekeeping.
