The saber was adopted for all Artillery officers in 1850 by Solingen, with the 1852 regulations stipulating a white grip and a cut-and-thrust blade. The design is based on European lines. The blade typically features a broad fuller and a narrow fuller. Original examples were carried by many ranking Federal naval officers during the Civil War. Overall length: approximately 35 inches.
