Two black metal horseshoes in various conditions described below. Please see photos for condition and dimensions. (1) Good Condition: A traditional U-shaped horseshoe, primarily made of black-coated steel or cast iron. It features a classic, symmetrical U-shape curving around a hollow center. A distinct grooved channel or fuller runs along the outer perimeter of the curved sections. Inside the grooved channel, there are rectangular nail holes distributed symmetrically along each side (branch) to anchor nails into a horse's hoof wall. The two open ends at the bottom of the shoe taper smoothly to form blunt, rounded heels. The surface exhibits a matte black finish with a slightly granular, rugged texture characteristic of forged or cast iron. (1) Fair Condition: An old, heavily rusted horseshoe with significant surface pitting and texture from age. A classic U-shaped metal band with a flat profile. Multiple rectangular nail holes are visible along the curved outer ridge of the shoe.
