A red comb starfish (Astropecten aranciacus), an echinoderm noted for its striking, symmetrical structure. It displays classic five-point radial symmetry, featuring five long, tapering arms radiating outwards from a distinct central disc. The upper (aboral) surface exhibits a rich, textured gradient ranging from dark reddish-brown and deep orange at the center to a brighter, lighter yellow-orange toward the tips of the arms. The margins of each arm are lined with conspicuous, needle-like fringe spines (marginal spines) resembling a comb, which give the species its common name. Its dorsal surface is covered with numerous small paxillae, giving it a rough, granulated appearance. Good condition with minimal-to-no signs of wear. Dimensions are approximately 10"h x 11"w.
