THE GREAT BUDDHA'S HEAD FROM THE NORTHERN WEI DYNASTY.
H:60cm (23.62in) H:39cm (15.35in) This is a fragmented head sculpture of Bodhisattva carved from white marble of late Northern Wei Dynasty. The marble texture is delicate and smooth. It wears a tall elaborate crown, with a small carved Buddha figure in the center of the crown, primitive elegant scroll patterns on both sides, and neat layered lotus petal patterns on the crown edge, showing grand luxurious crown format. It has solid round-square face, slender half-closed eyes with concise primitive eyebrow lines, straight thick nose and gentle restrained lip lines with faint peaceful smile, embodying tranquil solemn aura. It fully presents the age artistic style of Northern Dynasties sculpture: elegant thin figure, primitive serene charm. The stone surface bears natural ancient patina formed after thousand-year erosion. Despite body fragmentary condition, it retains complete facial spiritual charm. As a classic relic of Quyang stone sculpture system in Northern Dynasties of Hebei, it is a precious physical specimen for studying Northern Dynasties Buddhist stone art and style evolution, with outstanding display and collection value.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.

Additional photographs and condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy only.
