IMPERIAL INSCRIPTION POEM LONG SQUARE SEAL. Height:6cm (2.36in) , Width:10cm (3.94in) , Weight:610g (1.345lb) A rectangular imperial seal of Qing dynasty carved from fine Shoushan Tianhuang stone. The stone is oily and dense with rich honey?yellow tone and serene antique patina. The knob is high?relief carved with three intertwined chilong dragons roaming among scrolling clouds. Vigorous figures with meticulously rendered manes and musculature demonstrate supreme court carving craftsmanship. One vertical side bears incised imperial poetic verses dated ??second month of Jimao year??, with crisp character strokes combining fine calligraphy and engraving. The seal face is inscribed in Chinese nine?fold seal?script together with Manchu text, composed in solemn orderly layout with neat forceful lines and deep grooves. Thick aged cinnabar paste residues remain on the seal surface. Integrating premium Tianhuang material, elaborate relief carving, imperial poetry and bilingual inscriptions, it stands as an important surviving court?made Tianhuang seal of Qing period.
