3 framed prints on canvas made for the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame. Wooden frames with taupe canvas borders. Each has gold seal of ranger star circle badge, and each is signed by Rader and numbered 97/1000. Largest frame measures 34 1/4" x 28 1/2", canvas measures 28" x 22". Other two frames measure 30" x 24 1/4" and each canvas measures 24" x 18". Joe Rader Roberts (1925-1982) was born in Lockhart, Texas and got his start as a commercial artist after graduating from high school. From 1943-1945 he served with the Merchant Marines, and then afterwards he enrolled in the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco. He married in 1949 and moved back to (Houston) Texas where he worked as a commercial artist and painted illustrations on store fronts of various businesses. His passion for the historic frontier drew him to the fine arts and he became a full time artist, painting scenes of the early West. Roberts is best known for his western narrative paintings. His son, Gary Lynn Roberts, is also a noted Western artist.
