Source info Smithsonain American History Museum: Joseph L Ross pedestal style desk features a desktop with single shelf open to the student and supported by two decorative cast iron side support/ legs. This desk was made between 1860-1890 in Massachusetts. The desk has an inkwell on the top with a cover US Ink Well Co, Des Moines Iowa from 1908 with sliding cover. This desk has been mounted to 2 blocks of wood over the years. Sides of the cast iron legs Jos. L. Ross Amazing patina and children's carvings on the surface
