These two pieces are beautiful examples of the Walt Disney Classics Collection (WDCC). Both were specially created as exclusive releases for the Walt Disney Collectors Society. Left: "On with the Show!" (Magician Mickey) Release Year: Released in 1997 as the annual membership sculpture. The Inspiration: Inspired by the 1937 classic short Magician Mickey.Design & Elements: Mickey is featured in full stage attire with a black tuxedo coat, dirty color yellow shoes, and his signature top hat. He holds a tiny gold wand, ready to pull off his next trick. Details: Sculpted by artist Bruce Lau, this fine porcelain piece is highly detailed and captures Mickey's expressive theatrical personality.Right: "Mickey's Debut" (Steamboat Willie)Release Year: Released in 1997 to celebrate the 5-Year Anniversary of the Walt Disney Collectors Society. The Inspiration: Commemorates Mickey’s historic 1928 debut in the legendary animated short Steamboat Willie.Design & Elements: Mickey is depicted in classic black-and-white, cheerfully steering at the helm. The wood grain on the boat deck and the textured detailing on the steering wheel showcase the high craftsmanship of the collection.Details: Sculpted by artist Don "Ducky" Williams, this piece honors the milestone moment that birthed the Disney empire.
