A vintage American snow sled manufactured by S. L. Allen & Co., Inc. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This model is identified as a Genuine Flexible Flyer No. 251H Airline Junior, as indicated by a black ink stamp on the underside of the central deck slat. The sled is constructed of five longitudinal hardwood slats secured by three wooden cross-members. The central slat features a screen-printed graphic of a bald eagle over a sled with the words FLEXIBLE FLYER and a long red arrow. The wooden steering bar is decorated with red-painted wing motifs and a red oval decal reading SUPER STEERING. A braided natural fiber pull rope is attached to the steering bar ends. The underside of the central slat includes stamped text identifying the manufacturer as S. L. Allen & Co. Inc., Phila. Pa., and manufacturers of Planet Jr. farm and garden tools and garden tractors.
