A hand-painted porcelain lit building from the Department 56 Dickens' Village Series, identified as J. Lytes Coal Merchant. The underside of the piece is embossed with DICKENS' VILLAGE SERIES, J. LYTES COAL MERCHANT, and ©Department 56 1997. A white adhesive label reads INSPECTED / MADE IN CHINA EXCLUSIVELY FOR / Department 56 INC. Height: 9 inches.The building is in good overall vintage condition, with the internal lighting system functional. A black cord intended to connect two bollards on the snowy base is severed (photo 5). Minor paint rubbing is present along the edges of the brown roof tiles. The included original manufacturer box shows shelf wear and a large surface tear on the front panel.
