Late 18th / early 19th century, French. An antique decanter set housed within a deceptive tantalus box realistically formed as a stack of four multi-volume leather-bound books, the spines featuring raised bands and gilt-tooled floral compartments with faux titles including Pratique des Terriers (Practice of Territories). The hinged lid and front drop-panel open to reveal a fitted interior containing two (2) gold-enameled glass decanters with stoppers and twelve (12) matching gilt-rimmed liqueur glasses, 7 x 10 3/8 x 8 inches. .
