An Imperial Russian Art Nouveau (.84 zolotnik) silver cigarette case, Moscow, circa 1899-1908. The rectangular case features a finely chased and engraved Art Nouveau (Modern style) flowing poppy and foliate design to the cover, opening to a gilded vermeil interior with a cabochon garnet-set thumbpiece. Stamped with the Left-Facing Kokoshnik assay mark for 84 zolotnik (.875 silver) with the initials of assay master Ivan Lebedkin, alongside the maker's mark SPI. Measuring 4 1/8 x 3 1/4 inches, weight 181 grams.
