Countryside, oil on board, signed lower left. Born in Russia and raised in Saskatchewan, Frederick Nicholas Loveroff studied at the Central Ontario School of Art under prominent masters like J.W. Beatty and J.E.H. MacDonald. Elected an Associate of the Royal Canadian Academy in 1920, he was known for his richly colored post-impressionist landscapes before the Depression forced him to abandon painting for farming in 1934, 8 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches.
