Bottle – T. Lockyer, Wembury House (c. 1795–1805) This authentic Georgian-era "black glass" cylindrical wine bottle features a beautifully preserved, crisp applied glass seal embossed with "T. Lockyer / Wemb".This seal offers a definitive, uncommonly precise historical provenance. It belonged to Thomas Lockyer, Esq. (1756–1806), a prominent gentleman and landowner who purchased the grand estate of Wembury House in South Devon, England, in the late 18th century. Bottles bearing this exact seal are rare surviving remnants of the estate's private cellar stock from the turn of the 19th century.Adding to its remarkable historical pedigree, Thomas Lockyer’s son was Major Edmund Lockyer, the famous British military officer who formally annexed Western Australia for the Crown and founded Albany in 1826.10in tall, 3.5in dia.
