City Cavalry Insignia Locket – Owned by William Struthers Jr. (Member No. 33) A museum-grade artifact of early American military society heritage. This unique, hand-crafted uniform insignia locket belonged directly to William Struthers Jr.—member of the prominent 19th-century Philadelphia family of master stonemasons who carved Washington's sarcophagus and built Philadelphia City Hall. The front features a bold eight-pointed starburst housing a golden classical cavalry helmet over a shield inscribed "TRENTON," "PRINCETON," and "1774," directly commemorating the founding and Revolutionary War combat of the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry. Built for rugged uniform wear, this unique field-piece features a secure, friction-fit pop-out back rather than a fragile commercial hinge. The reverse exterior is custom-engraved with the name "William Struthers Junior," while the raw, solder-marked interior chamber reveals a crude, hand-scratched member roll number: "33." An incredibly rare piece of Pennsylvania militaria with impeccable provenance.
