Plique-a-Jour Enamel Diamond and Pearl Pendant.

5*3cm Wt:8.2g
The centre of this pendant is set with a volcanic?rock sculptural figure. During the period, it was fashionable among European aristocrats and collectors to carve classical deities from lava and other dark volcanic stones. Hard in texture with deep, patinated tones, the material inherently conveys an antique aura and sacred quality. Fine crackle textures spread across the sculpture's surface, characteristic of volcanic rock. Its internal structure consists of a mixture of volcanic glass and fine granular debris. As the volcanic glass cools, it naturally contracts to form innate fine fissures (crazing), a natural ??fingerprint?? formed upon extraction from the earth. On this pendant, the crazing is evenly distributed over the entire surface, with no prominent penetrating large cracks ?? typical natural intrinsic cracking. Behind the sculptural figure lies an open?backed blue translucent window. This technique omits a solid backing plate, permitting light to pass through from the reverse like stained glass. It creates a striking contrast of cool and warm hues against the dark?toned volcanic?rock figure of the Madonna.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS, REFUNDS, OR CANCELLATIONS.

Condition and Authenticity:

Any statement in the catalogue, condition report, photographs, video, invoice, or other written or oral communication regarding the origin, date, age, attribution, authorship, authenticity, provenance, material, condition, or estimated selling price of any lot is a statement of opinion only.
