Hand-signed by Napoleon to approve salary payments for the Surintendant de la Musique (Royal Court Music Director) and nine court musicians. Created while Napoleon ruled the Isle of Elba and secretly plotted his return to France, this artifact dates to a pivotal historical turning point: only a few weeks later, he launched the Hundred Days campaign, which ultimately ended with his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.
