Day Cover & Broadcasting Correspondence Collection Collection of Canada Post philatelic and broadcasting-related material issued for the 1983 United Nations “World Communications Year: Development of Communication Infrastructure.” Includes two official Canada Post First Day Covers, each bearing the 32¢ World Communications Year stamp with Ottawa Day of Issue cancellation dated March 10, 1983. Each First Day Cover retains its original blue Canada Post presentation envelope. Also includes two original Canada Post letters dated March 9, 1983 and signed by R.W. Eyre, Director of Retail Marketing. One was addressed to CFCY Limited, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and the other to Northern Broadcasting Ltd., Moncton, New Brunswick. The letters accompanied the complimentary First Day Covers and discuss the role of the recipients in the communications industry. Also includes the original Canada Post Special Delivery/Express mailing envelope used to send the CFCY Limited Charlottetown correspondence, bearing March 1983 postal markings. An interesting group combining Canadian philatelic history with Maritime broadcasting provenance. Overall good vintage condition with some folds, handling wear and age-related marks.
