TECHNICAL SPECS: Diameter: 36 mm Material: Silver Fineness: 0.9999 Weight: 25.17 grams Bullion Weight: 0.809 Troy Ounces Description Commemorating the 150th anniversary of one of the world’s most prestigious military honors, this proof silver dollar features a reproduction of the historic Victoria Cross. The medal is recognizable by its cross pattée design, which features the Royal Crown topped by a lion guardant and a scroll bearing the words "For Valour." The reverse side of the cross includes a raised circle where the date of the heroic act is engraved, while the suspension bar is inscribed on the back with the recipient’s name, rank, and unit. In 1993, Canada formally instituted its own version of the decoration. While it maintains the classic appearance of the original, the Canadian Victoria Cross is distinguished by its Latin inscription, "Pro Valore," replacing the traditional English text on the scroll.
