Manufactured by the Toledo Scale Company of Toledo, Ohio, U. S. A., this mid-century electric "Defiance" mercantile computing scale (Model 4505-GP, Serial No. 4676) features a heavy white enameled housing and an 18-pound capacity. The dual-sided construction provides detailed price-computing drum charts for the clerk and a "Correct Weight Here" window for the customer. Notable markings include the original manufacturer's data plate, along with period-authentic service labels from a Pueblo,Colorado scale repair shop and State of Colorado inspection decals dating to 1955 and 1978. Condition is consistent with decades of commercial retail use, showing scattered enamel loss, oxidation around the base edge, and general surface staining. The viewing glass remains intact, and the vintage inspection stickers show expected edge peeling, discoloration, and paper loss.
