A black-painted wooden rocking chair constructed in the traditional Boston style. The chair features a wide, curved crest rail decorated with a stenciled gold-toned floral and foliate motif. The backrest is composed of four shaped vertical splats with gold-toned pinstriping, set between turned stiles. The chair includes scrolled arms and a contoured seat, both accented with gold-toned pinstripe borders. It stands on turned legs with gold-toned ring accents, joined by turned stretchers and mounted on wooden rockers. Condition: The chair exhibits signs of use and age consistent with its function. Significant surface scratching and finish wear are present on the seat. Minor chips, scuffs, and abrasions to the painted finish are visible on the rockers, legs, and frame.
