$3.77 Melt Value 8-12-26. The 1945-P Jefferson Nickel was struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a mintage of 119,408,100 pieces. Felix Schlag's obverse shows a left-facing bust of Thomas Jefferson, with Monticello on the reverse beneath a large P above the dome. Struck in 56% copper, 35% silver and 9% manganese, the coin weighs 5 grams, measures 21.2 mm and contains 0.05626 troy oz of silver. This is the final year of the wartime alloy: nickel became available again at the end of 1945 and the coin returned to its original composition in 1946.
