Framed 19th-century steel plate engraving titled The Adirondack Woods, after American Hudson River School artist James McDougal Hart, engraved by Robert Hinshelwood. Originally published by D. Appleton & Company in 1874 for Picturesque America, the scene depicts a quiet river bend within the Adirondack wilderness, with deer gathered along the water’s edge. This example has been delicately hand-tinted with watercolor to accentuate the foliage and water and is presented in a deeply ribbed period giltwood frame with a linen-texture museum mat. Dimensions: 18 x 21 Condition 19
