Shell Scallop Die-Cut 24-Inch Neon Porcelain Sign

LAST CALL FINAL TWO SALES. This is one of the last two auctions for these signs. After this sale and the next, they are gone for good. This is your last chance to bid and buy. We ship nationwide and handle everything from beginning to end.

Shell — The Pecten in Die-Cut Neon

The Shell pecten, the scallop shell, is one of the oldest and most recognizable trademarks in the world. This die-cut neon follows the actual outline of the scallop, with the ribs of the shell traced in yellow neon and SHELL glowing in red across the center.

Unlike a round can, a die-cut sign reads as the shape itself, which makes it one of the most striking pieces in this sale.

Real Neon. Real Porcelain. Made the Old Way.

This is authentic neon: hand-blown, hand-bent glass tubes, vacuum-sealed and filled with noble gas, lit by a high-voltage neon transformer. It is the same warm, living glow that hung over service stations and dealerships in the golden age of the American roadside. The face is real kiln-fired porcelain enamel on a heavy steel can, made with the same traditional techniques and authentic materials as the porcelain signs in this sale.

Built to outlast you. The transformer will wear out long before the glass does. Replace the transformer and a well-kept neon sign will glow for 50-plus years.

Size Details

Size: 24-Inch die-cut neon sign, exactly as shown

Neon: authentic hand-blown, hand-bent glass tubes with vacuum-sealed noble gas and a high-voltage transformer

Face can: kiln-fired porcelain enamel on a heavy-gauge steel can

Approx. shipping weight: about 50 lb crated

Display: indoor display recommended; hangs or mounts like the originals

Condition: new, handcrafted authentic reproduction (not a vintage original)

Size: 24-Inch, exactly as shown.
