A handsome Vista Alegre Portuguese porcelain covered ginger jar, richly decorated in an elaborate Imari-inspired palette of cobalt blue, iron red, burnt orange, pale green and gilt on a white porcelain ground. The substantial baluster-form jar is decorated throughout with stylized floral sprays, blossoms, foliage, geometric motifs and traditional Asian-inspired imagery, including boldly rendered blue leaves, flowering branches and decorative objects. The lower body incorporates additional figural and auspicious motifs amongst flowers and scrolling forms.
