A substantial hand-blown studio art glass vase of rounded, near-spherical form, executed in rich translucent ruby-red glass. The body is encircled by a broad, free-flowing band of multicoloured glass in shades of green, yellow, blue, white and burgundy, manipulated into expressive marbled and wave-like patterns. The contrasting decoration has a painterly, almost landscape-like quality, with areas of tightly worked swirling colour transitioning into broad ribbons of white and pale green. The substantial weight, smoothly finished circular mouth and polished pontil/base area are characteristic of individually worked studio glass. Material: Hand-blown art glass. Dimensions: Approx. 7 in. high × 9 in. diameter (17.8 × 22.9 cm).
