Make: Rock Island Arsenal Model: 1903 Caliber: 30-06 Action: Bolt Barrel: 26 Bore: Shiny Serial # 397040 Condition: Good Early production U.S. Model 1903 Springfield bolt-action rifle chambered in the classic .30-06 Springfield. This rifle represents the dawn of the iconic M1903 service life, bearing serial number 397040 which places its manufacture at the legendary Springfield Armory in 1909. Because it falls below the 810,000 threshold, this receiver features the original single-heat-treat metallurgy characteristic of early-century American military production, making it a highly prized, pure artifact for serious military surplus collectors. The rifle is in good, authentic military surplus condition, showcasing a smooth bolt cycle and a well-preserved bore with visible rifling. The receiver and barrel assembly retain an honest, aged military finish with honest thinning from its long history, while the vintage wood stock boasts a rich, dark patina filled with handling marks and service character. This century-old firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic (C&R) and must ship directly to a licensed FFL or C&R holder where state laws permit. Please see the photos.
