Authentic, vintage New York City Housing Authority (N.Y.C.H.A.) Trainee badge, dating from approximately the mid-1960s to the late 1970s. This is a solid, durable piece of official NYC municipal history. Issued during the peak expansion of the New York City Housing Authority’s specialized training programs, these badges were used for identification and asset control. They granted recruits and maintenance/security apprentices authorized access to restricted city housing property across the five boroughs. Trainee badges are highly collectible because most were turned back in and destroyed or upgraded upon graduation, leaving very few surviving examples today.
