Mouth Antique Armand Marseille German doll featuring a bisque shoulder/head with finely painted facial details, rosy cheeks, painted brows and lashes, brown glass eyes, and an open mouth with visible upper teeth. The doll retains a brown wig and is constructed on a cloth body with jointed legs and bisque lower arms/hands. The back of the bisque is impressed “Made in Germany” along with additional impressed numbers/marks that are present but not clearly legible; no attempt has been made to interpret the indistinct markings. The doll is dressed in a cream satin-style period costume with lace trim and decorative silver-tone braided/sequined embellishment, together with white knitted stockings. Clothing appears to be removable, and its age/originality to the doll is unknown. Condition: Antique condition with age-related wear throughout. The cloth body shows considerable discoloration, staining, surface wear and deterioration consistent with age. The bisque hands exhibit visible crazing/crackling and soiling. Wig is disheveled with loose/flyaway hair. Clothing has discoloration, staining, wear and aging to the lace and trim. Bisque head/shoulder area shows surface marks and soiling; photographs should be consulted closely for condition. Eyes are present, although the eye mechanism, if any, has not been tested or verified. No statement is made regarding restoration, repairs, or originality of individual components unless otherwise noted. Marks: Impressed “Made in Germany” on the back of the bisque, with additional indistinct impressed markings/numbers below. A nicely detailed example of an Armand Marseille German bisque doll, offered in as-found condition.
