John Fairfield (1920-1995) Marenisco, MI 4" long Fairfield was passionate about fishing and began carving his own spearing decoys as a teenager in the late 1930's. Fairfield even brought hooks and line to France as a soldier in the 78th Infantry Division during WWII. All of his patterns for his decoys were drawn freehand. With his fish being made entirely with hand tools. His uniquely designed angled fins are hallmarks of his work and it was in his opinion that it allowed his fish to dart quicker in the water. His vibrant paint and lifelike finish caught the eyes of collectors as well as those who still used them for their intended purpose and so Fairfield made and finished all of his fish to be used.Condition: Excellent and original
