William "Bill" Joeckel (1921-2010) Islip Terrace, Long Island, NY 16.5" long Well sculpted decorative hen that competed in the 2nd Annual Atlantic Flyway Waterfowl Festival in Salisbury, MD and bears that sticker. The contented head is tucked and turned off to the left with glass eyes and full carved bill details. The side pockets and wings are relief carved with the wing tips gently elevating over the back. Carved primary feathers on the back and tail feathers. Signed by maker with and Bill Joeckel Decoys brand on bottom. In addition to being a renowned decoy carver and collector, Bill was a WWII and Korean War US Army veteran, a commercial waterman, a hunter, a fisherman, and a trainer of retriever field trial champions.Condition: Very good and original with paint tightness to head and a couple shallow dents on tail
