The J. Stevens Model 311 is a side-by-side break-action shotgun chambered in 16 gauge. It is configured with a 28-inch barrel set and traditional double triggers. The receiver features a color case finish, paired with a wood stock that follows the classic two-piece layout common to this model. The 311 series is known for its straightforward mechanical design and twin-barrel configuration suited to the 16-gauge chambering. This Model 311 is used. The break-action mechanism includes individual firing pins for each barrel, operated by separate triggers. The color case finish on the receiver contrasts with the blued barrels and the natural wood furniture. The stock and forearm are fitted with standard checkering patterns, and the shotgun retains its fixed choke arrangement typical of the model’s production period. The 28-inch barrels provide balanced handling and traditional sighting alignment along the rib. No serial number is present on this shotgun, consistent with early production examples of the Stevens 311 prior to mandatory serialization.
