Antique miniature chainmail pouch featuring a mechanical expanding collar. When the lid is twisted off or pulled up, the metal rings slide open like a gate, providing access to the interior. These miniature purses were popular from the late 19th century through the 1920's and were frequently attached to a chatelain belt to securely carry coins, tokens or tiny personal trinkets.
