21" armpit to armpit, 18" shoulder to shoulder and 23 1/2" length. Small hole on the chest where a pin likely sat. Fancy embroidery on the cuffs. The U.S. Navy and Marines took possession of the former Imperial Japanese Navy base at Yokosuka on August 30, 1945. By 1947, Yokosuka was firmly established as an American naval installation supporting the occupation, with U.S. ships, sailors and support personnel based there while Japan underwent demilitarization and reconstruction under the Allied occupation.
