1848 Letter with hand cancel. This is a great old 1848 letter. Folded paper was then wax sealed and mailed. This was right around the time the first U.S. postage stamp was coming out and it cost 5 cents to mail a letter back then. Instead of a stamp, this had 5 written in the upper right and "Paid". An excellent piece of American Postal History. In really good condition. See photos for condition.
