American utilitarian blanket chest, 1890s publication, features heavy-duty iron bail handles and internal till cleats. This primitive softwood construction retains a dark stained finish alongside a historic gray-blue interior floor wash. A sturdy example of late 19th-century functional storage furniture exhibiting a desirable rustic patina for farmhouse decor. 13 x 36 x 14 inches. Antique condition with well-earned patina. Wear to edges and corners (photos 1, 3). Top has scuffs and circular stains (photo 4). Sturdy construction and original hardware.
