Title: Money, Sex and the Ideal Technique: Acrylic on canvas Measures: 20 x 20 inches (50.8 x 50.8 cm) Year: Circa late-20th century Neo-Expressionist period Condition: Good condition. The surface presents vivid coloration, layered pigment, gestural linework, and intentionally irregular passages throughout. Minor wear consistent with age and handling may be present. The canvas and projecting structural elements appear stable and display-ready, retaining the work’s strong graphic character and overall presentation. Provenance: Property from a private American collection. According to information supplied by the previous owner, the work remained in private hands before entering the present consignment. Supporting documentation concerning its earlier ownership and acquisition history is unavailable. The above provenance reflects the information that accompanied the artwork when received for cataloging. Visual Description: This energetic composition combines two mask-like figures with repeated words, currency symbols, and loosely drawn linear elements. A large yellow head with exaggerated eyes and barred teeth occupies the upper left, while a second pale figure emerges from a dense network of black loops at the lower right. Two oval forms prominently display the word “IDEAL,” while the phrase “MONEY FOR SEX” extends across the upper edge. Saturated passages of red, blue, yellow, pink, white, and black create a bold chromatic structure. Projecting bars extend beyond the principal square format, reinforcing the work’s raw, constructed appearance and visually charged Neo-Expressionist character. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
