Herman Melville. "Moby Dick Or The Whale" (New York: Random House, 1930). First trade edition. Illustrated in woodcuts by Rockwell Kent. Rare and exceptional binding. Full white leather. Gilt title and author to front cover and spine. Front depicts a whale's face; blind stamped grooves and prosthetic eyelids embedded in and protruding from the binding. New off white endpapers. Small stain and slight soiling to bottom edge. Inside very clean.
