Antique White Cedar Cylinder Butter Churn

Updated August 31, 2026

Excellent selection of an antique butter churn, perfect for any collector of rustic décor. This item is specifically a “New Style White Cedar Cylinder Churn” based upon the printed wording on the object. It was used in households and small farms during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to separate cream into butter and buttermilk. The barrel would hold up to three gallons of cream inside a rotating cylinder made of rot-resistant white cedar wood. Turning the metal hand crank would rotate internal wooden paddles to agitate the cream. The wide rectangular opening at the top allows cream to be poured in and butter to be extracted. The overall churn is in great shape for its age, holding clear rustic quality but very complete . The churn’s handle easily moves with interior rotation. Also, the lid to the churn is present, an element that is often lost on other churns. The front of the churn holds block print wording that is slightly blurred but adds to the rustic aesthetic. Overall churn measures 15.5” H x 12.’5” W x 15” D (including crank).
