Excellent selection of a unique French ormolu two-tiered vitrine jewelry casket, perfect for any collector. It is assumed that the piece dates back to the Victorian or Belle Epoque era (circa 1880-1900). This vanity piece stands out from typical flat trinket boxes due to its rare vertical architectural styling. It was designed to specifically showcase luxury pocket watches and fine jewelry under natural light. The casket features three heavy beveled glass panels framed by detailed, gilded brass filigree trim. The upper roofline is accented with a classical cast-metal urn finial. The front-opening door opens on a side hinge and still retains its functional latch. The interior retains its original tufted cushions. The overall casket obviously holds some considerable wear due to its age. There also might be a portion of the top ornamentation that has broken off. Regardless, this is still a very rare piece and is considered a relic to still primarily exist in its condition. Overall item measures 8.5” H x 4.5” W x 3” D.
