Art, Medieval Bayeux Tapestry wall hanging. Embroidered with figures and scenes that tell one of the most famous stories in British history – the Norman Conquest of England in the 11th century. Unique artwork is in very good condition, ready to frame or hang up. Measures 62” x 26” The original Bayeux Tapestry itself is a historically monumental 11th-century embroidery that chronicles the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, culminating in the Battle of Hastings. The original tapestry measures 230 feet in length and 20 inches in height, telling a story through 58 scenes on the struggle for the English throne between William, Duke of Normandy, and Harold Godwinson. The piece also holds significance due to it being a primary source from understanding medieval life through visual evidence of the 11th century.
