HMCS Micmac was the first destroyer ever built entirely within Canada and served a relatively short peacetime career before being sold for scrap in 1964 This dates specifically to 1953–1955.The Production Run: Benedict-Proctor Mfg. Co. ( Trenton, Ontario ) introduced this exact squared-handle, plain-walled 1236 pewter series to Canadian military bases right at the onset of the Cold War. The Ship's Window: Because this features the post-1953 Queen's Crown badge for HMCS Micmac, it could not have been fabricated prior to her August 1953 recommissioning. However, solid-metal bases fell entirely out of production in B.P. Co.'s catalog by the late 1950s in favor of glass variations. This places this specific solid-bottom unit perfectly between 1953 and 1955.
