1967 Hong Kong 50 Cents Queen Elizabeth Silver 1967 Hong Kong 50 Cents Queen Elizabeth II Copper-Nickel Coin KM# 30 This 1967 Hong Kong 50 Cents circulation coin features the regal portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right on the obverse, surrounded by the inscription QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND. The reverse displays the denomination in both English and Chinese characters, HONG-KONG FIFTY CENTS, along with the 1967 date. Struck in copper-nickel, this specimen is identified as KM# 30 and features a security edge, which was a standard anti-counterfeiting measure for the era. This coin represents a significant piece of British Colonial numismatic history from Hong Kong during the mid-20th century. The piece is housed in a protective 2x2 cardboard flip, preserving the details of the Queen's crown and the crisp lettering of the colonial inscriptions. 1967 Hong Kong 50 Cents Queen Elizabeth II Nickel-Brass Coin KM# 30 Condition: The coin appears to be in circulated condition with visible surface wear and minor toning. There is a moderate level of detail remaining in the hair of Queen Elizabeth II and the central Chinese characters, though the high points show smoothing. The fields exhibit small contact marks and environmental debris consistent with age. This is a business strike produced at the Royal Mint in London. The metal content for this issue is nickel-brass, not silver. Historically, this coin was minted during a period of significant social unrest in Hong Kong and features the second portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Thomas. The coin is raw and has not been professionally graded.
