This is a rare historic metal fish stocking transportation can used by the Pennsylvania Department of Fisheries. The can features sturdy dual side drop handles, a heavy vertical riveted back seam, and an umbrella style lid with a central aeration hole. Embossed brass identification tags reading PA DEPT OF FISHERIES are securely affixed to both the lid and the upper neck shoulder. The main cylinder body displays faint stenciled historic black lettering indicating past deployment to a fish hatchery location. It shows a heavily weathered, authentic aged appearance with uniform surface oxidation and rustic patina throughout from long-term field use. This unique piece makes an incredible addition to collections of agricultural history, antique conservation gear, or early Pennsylvania state history. Please examine all provided photographs to closely evaluate the specific markings, stamp details, and exact cosmetic state.
