A very collectible hand signed Tony Curtis (1925-2010) serigraph. Excellent condition. Measures 37 by 44 inches framed and 27 by 34 inches unframed. Best known as the star of movies like Some Like It Hot and The Defiant Ones, actor and artist Tony Curtis was also a prolific painter, creating portraits and still life artworks. His bold use of color was influenced by the works of Picasso, Van Gogh, and Matisse. After his acting career began to falter in the 1960s, he began to follow his second love and applied himself to painting. As an artist, Tony Curtis focused primarily on still life images with bright colors and abstract lines. A perfect example of his style is the Tony Curtis painting Red Table, which hangs in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He also worked in mixed media at times, creating pieces like his whimsical Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis.
