Ned Ray McWherter – Wolfard Hand-Blown Glass Oil Lamp A beautiful piece of American studio glass from the personal estate of Tennessee Governor Ned Ray McWherter! This elegant Wolfard Glassblowing Co. oil lamp comes directly from the personal estate of Ned Ray McWherter, 46th Governor of Tennessee. Wolfard's distinctive oil lamps have been produced since the early 1970s and are individually hand-blown from borosilicate glass using the company's specialized glassblowing technique. Because they are handmade, Wolfard notes that no two lamps are exactly alike. The minimalist clear-glass design has become Wolfard's signature, combining functional lighting with sculptural art. The company also notes that its classic oil lamp design was included in the Whitney Museum of American Art exhibition “High Styles: Twentieth Century American Design.” Maker: Wolfard Glassblowing Co.
