Hand Carved "Basket on Head" Folk Sculpture

Updated August 29, 2026

AB1200

Beautiful hand-carved wood figurine depicting a woman standing with a large patterned basket or vessel balanced on her head. This sculptural piece features a warm medium-to-dark brown wood tone with visible grain and carved decorative details throughout the clothing, jewelry, basket, and base.

The figure is shown in a graceful standing pose beside a textured stacked form, possibly a basket, stool, or vessel, adding depth and visual interest to the composition. Her dress is adorned with geometric carved motifs, and the necklace, draped garment, and head-carried vessel all show detailed hand-work that gives the piece a strong folk art and artisan-crafted character.

Set on a round naturalistic base with bark-style edge carving, this piece displays nicely on a shelf, table, or within a collection of hand-carved decorative objects. A striking accent for folk art, global decor, or wood sculpture collectors.
Condition Statement:

Pre-owned vintage/used condition with visible wear consistent with age and hand-carved wood decor. Shows surface scuffs, finish variation, age cracks/splits in the wood, and minor imperfections from carving and use.
Measures approx. 8-10 inches tall
