This American semi-vitreous earthenware lidded sugar bowl features two scrolled handles and a footed base. The vessel is decorated with a transfer-printed kitchen scene of flowers on a plaid tablecloth beside a window, accented with hand-painted red rims and handle highlights. The base bears a green printed backstamp within a scalloped border reading HC Eggshell NAUTILUS U.S.A. with an impressed date code L 37 N 4 indicating production in December 1937.Height: 4 1/4 inches.Noticeable brown staining and discoloration is present along the interior rim of the bowl. The lid flange displays a small chip and a hairline crack measuring approximately 1/2 inch. Minor shelf wear and soiling is visible on the unglazed foot ring.
